Mostly dominated by government establishments, however lately there was huge interest from private and corporate world, raise the bar of the R&D.

A Master’s degree with specialization would be ideal to start with, however if you want to contribute to the field or start at a higher career level, you should aim for PhD. Bachelor’s degree is fine but highly recommend to have Master’s degree to start with. If interested to stand apart or focus in a specific field, a PhD would look good on the CV. However please note that it is highly competitive as you aim for higher degrees as they are only few Indian universities that could offer world class programs.

Expected Salary

The package depends on whether you are going with private or government institution. However, one could expect around Rs. 3 – 6L per annum to start with, after completing Master’s degree. This could increase with PhD and relevant experience.
